Here I’d like to share my impressions of
Kaplan Step 2 CK QBank.
Basically, I’d say it’s good. Q-s are well-written and lengthy, which resembles real USMLE, but...
But I HATE it! =(
This bank is really-really hard to me!! NOT because of difficult concepts or complicated reasoning, not at all! But because it extensively tests obscure and peculiar facts, which I can’t find anywhere! I’ve studied
KLN-CK and
MTB-CK, but still ~ 20% (or even more) Q-s are “Never heard before”-type! It annoys.
At first I’ve tried to do it in all-random timed mode, but barely reached 60% average correct. Now I’m doing it in subject-wise timed tutor manner and still my result hardly exceeds 70%.
But what really impressed me is “% of students got it correct”
These odd and obscure questions – 70-80% of students get them correct! Where do they know it from???
On the other hand, Q-s which seem to me relatively simple, which require elementary thinking and simple logics - <50% get them correct… WTF?!?!
This bank is really-really strange. I don’t understand it. And I’m afraid of things I can’t understand.
What do you think about this bank? What could you advice me?
(P.S. Nevertheless, I’d say it is very good learning tool… )
