Anyone in a similar situation like me?

dlphn055 - 205(2)/CS result pending/taking CK in Aug/YOG 2016/Citizen/1 month(elective-subinternship ped neuro)/2 publications at home country med school/multiple conference presentations and a neonatal resuscitation instructor, certified in ACLS/BLS/PALS and P-FCCS. Grew up in California, med school in India.
I have an attempt in Step 1 and 205 on retake. CS result pending (I took on July 15th so I'll get it during the Aug 14 to Sep 14 score reporting period) and currently studying for CK. Can my CV and a good CK score make up for the step 1 attempt? I'm all into pediatrics only.

Thanks in advance and glad a 2017 thread was initiated! :)

Hi dlphn055,

To my understanding you wont be ecfmg certified on time for the upcoming match(by sept 15). Having an attempt will decrease your chances of having interviews but u could compensate by passing step 2 ck on first attempt >220 (ideally >240). Also, being a recent grad, having USCE and research experience will be really helpful. In any case nothing is impossible :)

Good luck!

Hi, thanks for your response. I'm planning on taking CK at the end of August or first week of September so that my score comes by 2nd or 3rd week of September and latest by 4th week of September. Once the score is available I'll certify. So hopefully I'll be certifying my application before Sept 30th and it wont be too late like October.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll try to get 240 plus and dreaming of a 260 plus on CK. Had high 250s and one 262 in step 1 nbmes when I studied the second time and I think test day anxiety and pre-exam insomnia sort of screwed me over. My worry is that I'll be filtered out from most program systems and wont get the chance to demonstrate my communication skills and experiences.

Thanks again and hoping we all match!!

Man!, You're super qualified! I think 9 pubs is AMAZING! Don't worry, you'll be fine :). Step 1 Score is an important filter, I will not lie to you. But you have lots of things to make up for it, so don't lose hope!

Where was the rejection from? I got one as well, but it was because I didn't read their visa policy properly. I know last year the students made a thread of the places where they heard back from for interviews or rejections. Should we make one this year too? Or if anyone knows how to set up a public excel sheet?

I apparently don't have enough posts to paste the link here from last years, but if someone who is able to messages me I'll send it to you and we can get something started! Good luck this season everyone!!
