Hi..
I have a few questions....if someone can answer, it would be great.
1- What are the chances of IMGs getting into neurology? Is it more competitive or less competitive than Internal Medicine for IMGs?
2- If i start research in neurology, would it be helpful for Internal medicine match?
3- If i do observerships in neurology, would LORs b useful for IM match?

Thanks

1. As I heard its kinda competitive.

2. Research in neuro will be helpful for ur CV but if u can get research in USA it will be good for ur CV and u can get research LOR. Publication will be a boost to get into good program with nice scores and nice LORs.

3. Most observership program do provide LOR but some don't. So you can try ask the program before applying.

thanks for response......but my confusion remains......actually i m interested in both neurology and internal medicine.....i had heard that one can use neurology LORs in IM match, but neurology people specifically ask for neurology LORs....as i m gonna apply for research and observerships now,i want to have an idea that would it be useful for IM match if i do research and observerships in neurology?or do i need to look for separate observerships for Internal medicine and neurology ?....any input would be really appreciated.

Dont have too much idea about Neuro, but what i have heard is that there are both prel and cat for neuro...neuro is bit competetive but scores in excess of 230 can earn you more than 8-10 ivs with neuro specific LoRs and obsies....and IM LoRs can nnot suffice, generilsed lors can:)..gud Luck;)
