I am img from india with green card.
I just recieved my step one score 214 ,

I just wanted to know what are the chances to get into internal medicine residency. Can step 2 score overcome step one score.
Thanks.

It's difficult because IM has become more competitive. However, you have the advantage of having a GC.

The thing is there are automatic filters that programs have in order to screen applicants so even if you did well on Step 2, you might not have met the first filter for Step 1 --- if that's what they used first.

It's best to have a good amount of USCE and network. Even if your scores are competitive (230, 240), many applicants have 250+ and therefore would make it through the first cut.

Disclaimer: Not all programs follow this protocol. This is what I heard from my friend who is a chief resident in NY.

Good luck! If you've set your mind on this path, work hard and stick to it. :)
