Vietnam ECFMG Paper work

Hello everyone,
I'm a very new member, and I need your help. I'm so frustrated because all my Forms that required by ECFMG send from my medical school (University of Medicine of Hochiminh City, Vietnam) were rejected because of "unauthorized signiture" although the person who sign is President of the school. The document was back and forth many times and my medical school also get mad too. I don't know what to do because it's very hard to contact ECFMG. If anyone know anything, please help me. Appreciate.

Am really sorry to hear your story.
Where do you live? If you are living near your medical school then the best way is to go to them and if not then you have to send a friend or relative to tackle the issue.
This has happened several times with IMGs in the past and usually it's a small mistake that the school is not paying attention to.
Try to see the documents before they send them to ECFMG and see if there's anything wrong.
Contact colleagues who have previously done it successfully.

Call the ECFMG and ask them who should be signing the document. Be polite and patient when you talk to them. Tell them the president has signed it and he's of highest authority in the school.

Default May be you like to try this

Hey there,
Sorry to hear that, I have sent many documents and used to let the head of registration office sign it (the registrar not the dean or school president) and it worked in every time so you might like to try that.
Wish you good luck

Cool No worries

My papers were accepted just yesterday. I had the same problem and I had to resend the papers.

First of all, ECFMG ppl are amazingly cooperative, whatever you ask them they will answer.

There are special ppl for each medical school to sign the papers, your med school sends the ecfmg names and signitures of the authorized individuals to sign the papers, but ecfmg is not allowed to give you their names for security reasons they say "contact your med school to know them". in my school it was the vice deans or the dean, I didn't know that plus I am away from my med school, I emailed the ecfmg ppl and explained my situation and they told me the designation of those who can sign the papers, but they didn't tell me their names.

Also for form 186 (certificate of identification), if you are away from your med school (in another country), an american consular official in the country you are currently residing in must sign it, then it should be sent to your med school and the (authorized person) there should sign it and resend it to ecfmg from his office. You have to have the right 186 form for this (there are 2 forms 186). Actually that was my mistake and the ecfmg explained it clearly to me via email.

Hope this will help

Thank you very much for your helpfull information. I've just called to my school and they said that the person who used to sign all the form was a president and he was retired 3mos ago. The one who signed my forms is the new president. May be ECFMG does not have the record? In this case what can I do? my school say they already do what they suppose to do!!!!.

  • Call ECFMG and tell them that the previous president resigned.
  • Let your medical school send an official letter informing the ECFMG of the new president.
