Certificate Graduate without a diploma yet

I will graduate from medical school in a couple of weeks. Diploma takes 2-3 months to be validated.

Can i apply for step 1 without a diploma and a Dean Letter stating that i've graduated?

If so, can anyone advice me if there's a format of letter i have to follow.

Please advice,

Thank you

Hi!

Thanks for the post. My medical school gives out diplomas one year after we graduate so I got stuck at the same place.

Can you please suggest at this point of time (graduated without diploma) what are the FORMS & DOCUMENTS that I should submit in the application for step 1.

This is what I could gather. Please tell me where I have mistaken.

Medical Education Credentials Submission Form (344)
Medical School Release Request (345) x2
medical education credentials,
photograph,
and any other required documents (?) must be accompanied by an
IWA Document Submission Form (Form 187) and
must be sent with your Certification of Identification Form. (186)

Now what I couldn't figure out was whether at this point we are supposed to send our medical school transcripts or not?
I was under the impression that you only need to send that during ECFMG verification and not during step application.

The ECFMG Bulletin is so confusing!

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Regards,

xpabhishek.

Default From ECFMG information booklet

If you are a medical school graduate when you submit your first exam application, your credentials must be submitted with this initial exam application. If you have graduated and met all requirements for your medical diploma but your medical diploma has not yet been issued, a current, full-face, passport-sized, color photograph and a letter signed by your Medical School Dean, Vice Dean, or Registrar must be submitted with your exam application. The letter you submit must be the original document and must be written on your medical school’s letterhead. The letter must include the following statement:
This is to confirm that [applicant name] has graduated and completed all requirements to receive the [degree title] degree from [medical school/university name]. The degree will be issued [month and year].
You must then send your diploma to ECFMG as soon as the diploma is issued.
If you graduated from medical school and do not submit your medical diploma or a letter from your medical school, as described above, and these documents have not been received previously by ECFMG, your exam application will be rejected.

Smile Thanks

Dear MUADMUSA,

Thank you so much.

My question is what else do I need to send. I spent the whole night going over that pathetic bulletin.

I figured I'll have to send

form 186
Dean's letter + Photo

Now I couldn't understand if I need to send the other things like 344, 345, 187

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated

the transcript should not be included along with the forms, cos ur medical school is entitled to send it at the time of the varification.

As outlined above, if you didn't receive the diploma you can apply for the exams by sinding a letter from ur medical school's dean certifying that u've fulfilled the requirements for graduation and going to receive a diploma at a latter time and specifying the expected date of receiving.

Good lock.

It seems they have attached a file with their email.

You should read it and follow the instructions within.

As for now, try to contact them and explain your current status as you have received the diploma.

Form 186 is the identification form that needs a school certification, but this is not the case for the other forms. So it doesn't make sense at all to send them through your school, but I'm not saying it's fine to send them yourself.

Once again, try to call them and they probably would insist to send them through your school.
