Unhappy I want to change my testing region from "Asia" to "India"

I am Indian medical graduate. I extended my eligibility period and my current testing region is "Asia". So I cannot schedule my step 1 exam in Mumbai, India. Prometric said you can't schedule in India with this scheduling permit you better change it.

So I called ECFMG for change of testing region. Talk with Mr Evan from ECFMG was short. He suggested to fax ECFMG with request letter. So i faxed them same day. And called back. There was girl on call who told me ECFMG received my fax letter. It will take 10 days to process my request.

I asked for email confirmation for that they received my request through fax. But she denied.

Now my question is - What should I do? I can't rely on just talk with that ma'm from ECFMG? Any suggestion???

Did she give a reason why they couldn't send a confirmatory e mail?

No she didn't. Actually she was telling me again that it will be done. I think I should call them again.
To Moloch---You know anyone who had his testing region changed?

Default any charges for changing the testing region?

Dear,

I wanted to know if they charged for changing the region?
Also, how many days it took to receive the new scheduling permit?

I will appreciate your kind response

Hi kira,

No charge is required. Just fax them request letter. It will take 10 days ( at most 14 days). And remember to mention the name of person from ECFMG phone line (in request letter) who will suggest you to fax the letter.

Hope you find this useful.
