Question ECFMG registration away from home country

Hi everyone,
i am a graduate from india and i hav finished my internship just 1 month back. i am leaving to usa in 20 more days as i am a greencard holder. i cannot come back to india anytime soon, so i want to finish all the forms and documents that i hav to get it signed from my medical school..

i understood the process but my ques are,
Q1. SHOULD I BE THERE IN MY MED SCHOOL WHEN ECFMG REQUESTS VERIFICATION OF MY CREDENTIALS FROM MY SCHOOL AND REQUEST MY SCHOOL TO SEND THEM??? MY SCHOOL PARTICIPATES IN EMSWP.

Q2. I HAVE STARTED MY PREP FOR STEP 1 NOW, SO I AM IN CONFUSION WHEN TO APPLY, SO CAN I APPLY FOR STEP 1 LATER AND GET FORM 186 SIGNED LATER BY A NOTARY AND SEND OTHER DOCUMENTS BY MYSELF OR SHOULD I GET EVERYTHING SIGNED NOW???

Q3. ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS I NEED OTHER THAN FORMS?

everyone plz help.

Get your form 186 signed by the college dean before you leave. Without proper 186 you cannot proceed with any other usmle formalities (you can apply for step 1 dates but wont get permit until 186 is verified.

If you med school is cooperative you do not need to be present when ECFMG sends your diploma for verifications.

You would require Deans letter before you apply for match.

You don't need to be physically present near your medical school in order to sign your Form 186.

There's the option of signing it in front of Notary Public in USA and then send it to your medical school for signature by the official.

It depends if your medical school provides MSPE or dean letter.
