Dollar Sign ECFMG Forfeiture of Funds Notification

I'm a new hand IMG to this forum. And prepping for USMLE.
I have already registered long since 2008. Recently I got an email from ECFMG concerning ECFMG Forfeiture of Funds Notification. Following as

" Our records indicate that you have unused funds in your ECFMG financial account. According to ECFMG's forfeiture of funds policy, funds in your ECFMG financial account will be available for a period of two years to pay for exams/requested services. Any funds not used during a two-year period will be forfeited to ECFMG; this means that you will lose those funds. Please refer to Your ECFMG Financial Account in the ECFMG 2012 Information Bookletfor additional information. We are writing to let you know that there are funds in your account nearing the two-year expiration date. If you do not use these funds to pay for an exam/service or request a refund from ECFMG by July 01, 2012, they will be forfeited to ECFMG.

You can check the status of your ECFMG financial account, including dates on which payments were made to your account, using ECFMG's On-line Applicant Status and Information System (OASIS). You can access OASIS by visiting the ECFMG website at www.ecfmg.org.

To request a refund from ECFMG, please do the following:

  • Verify your mailing address. Login to OASIS and confirm that the mailing address in your ECFMG record is current and complete. If your address of record is not correct, update it using OASIS. Refunds will be sent by check via regular U.S. postal mail to your address of record.
  • Once your current address is listed in OASIS, submit a refund request by e-mail to info@ecfmg.org or by mail to ECFMG, Attn: Refund Processing, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104-2685 USA. Refund requests must be submitted in writing and must include your full name and ECFMG/USMLE Identification Number.
If you need assistance, contact ECFMG by telephone at (215) 386-5900 (9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Eastern Time in the United States, Monday through Friday).

Please do not reply to this message. Messages received at this address will not receive responses.
Thank you for your prompt attention in this matter.

Sincerely,

Darrell Griffin
Manager of Financial Services
Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates"

Since I got some family and financial problem, busy taking the steps. Not ready now and I need to apply refunds from ECFMG . Next time I'm ready to take the steps , may I know the application steps ?
I mean must I register again as in Sabio's post (ECFMG Registration Steps) from the very beginning like forms 344, 345, 186 ? Or just paying exam funds to ECFMG ?

I need to know it urgently if possible. My target date for refund from ECFMG is July 01, 2012.

If you have a valid form 186, you don't need to repeat that.

The only problem I guess would be "application of ECFMG certification" which is a new thing added by ECFMG earlier this year. They may ask you to do that.

Also if you have already verified your credentials with ECFMG then you don't need to repeat the process.

Sabio, you are right. Have to pay 50 US for "application of ECFMG certification" which is said to be valid for life accordingly. Just answering online about five "Yes" or "No" questions and check boxes for some aggrement.
Refund process will take nearly three to four weeks.
