You will have to call ECFMG n talk to them about this. They will submit a request to NBME & you will get a new scheduling permit. However, NO refund will be given.

Hope that helps!

There is a difference between selecting the three months slot (eligibility period) and choosing a Prometric exam center (a date in that eligibility period)

So are you talking about eligibility period or about the exam center?

Does it make any difference if I give the exam in my home country or In US as far as scoring is concerned..I mean if I give in US,then would I be compared to US students' mean and SD. or it doesnt make any difference.?
And Are the exam questions exactly similar on that particular date,no matter wherever we give the exam??

I have had a similar issue. I called up ECFMG a couple of weeks ago. They said that it can be done i.e. we can change the testing region from home country to us or vice-versa. However, there is a small process:

If you have scheduled a date already, then first you would have to contact prometric and cancel the test date in whatever the country you have scheduled it,then you would have to send a written request to ECFMG to change the testing region. After that, you can set up a appointment with prometric in the new testing region.

I would suggest to confirm the testing region and stick ot it once, because that will definitely affect your preparation also.

Hope this helps!

If you have not set up a test date or test center, then you can directly fax a written request to ECFMG stating that you need to change the testing region. That's it. I don't remember the fee.As far as i remember it should be free of cost. I would suggest you call ECFMG ASAP and have all your queries listed so that everything gets cleared at 1 go.

Here is the email i have received from ECFMG:

" Please be advised if you would like to change your testing region once you are registered for a USMLE Step 1 or Step 2CK examination, you will need to send a request with your signature via fax or mail. In your letter please include your USMLE /ECFMG Identification Number, the statement that you would like ECFMG to change your USMLE Step 1 or Step 2CK testing region from and to, and your hand written signature.

Please note that you will be required to pay the difference for the international test delivery surcharge. You may make this payment through your OASIS account at ecfmg.org or by submitting the Payment Form (Form 900), which is available under publications at ecfmg.org. ECFMG will also not be changing your eligibility period accommodate for any time that may have already elapsed. "
