Question When to register with ECFMG?

Hello people!
I plan to take the Step 1 Exam in late September/Early October.
When should I register with the ECFMG for the Exam? I'm kinda freaking out cause I haven't yet registered!!!

OK, so I've registered online with the ECFMG. And I've paid the $50 that we need to. The only form I can access right now is the Form 187. Do I proceed to register for the actual Step 1 Exam to be able to access Form 183 and Form 186?

Default Why $50?

All you need is Ecfmg ID and fill up step 1 application and pay for the exam($930 for IMG ) to generate form 186.. Type and get signed on that form and Mail it by post to Ecfmg ..

Why did you pay $50? That must be for ecfmg certification.. Not required for applying step1..

Correct me if I'm wrong, I have not scheduled mine yet but that's what I know so far..

There's a difference between

the new "Application for ECFMG Certification" which is a $50 fee you pay it upfront and the ECFMG makes sure you are eligible

versus

the ECFMG certificate, which you will get when you pass all the tests and get your credentials verified.

I accessed my oasis account.. I had submitted Application for Ecfmg certification in November 2011. Then I was a student. It says med education status as Student. Now, I'm a graduate.. Should I change the info? If so how to do it?

Or

Should I resubmit a The application again. ? I had no idea of it when I filled up the application form then.. Please help...

Yes, so at this stage, we only need the ECFMG Certification, yes? And that would require us to fill forms 183 and 186, right? But I can only view a link to download Form 187 when I access my account. Doesn't say anything about 183 or 186 (yet). Does that mean I have to pay the money for the Exam, and then be able to download 183 and 186?

I'm in the same boat as you are. What exactly did you get done in November 2011? Just filled the online form, and they gave you the ECMFG ID via email?

Ya, I filled the online form and received the Ecfmg I'd from email..

$50 fee was implemented from jan '12.. So probably I was not aware of it..

I have filled the application form on step 1 .. Just holding back from payment as this new thing of paying 50$ popped up.. Wondering if I missed some Thing.. Will there be any prob..

@dockhi: above 187 form download there will appear application for step1/CS/ck.. That's wat I can see on my Ecfmg home page.. When did you submit you application for Ecfmg certification...

I have done the online work only. ie. Received the ECFMG ID (Same as you), but in addition I completed the online part of the ECMFG certification where you basically just confirm a few details about yourself/medschool and pay the 50$.
