Question How long is the eligibility

How long is the elegibility period for step 1 after form 186 verification and once i am sent a scheduling permit?

The eligibility period is 3 months, you choose it when you apply.

So if i have just started studying and i need at least 7 months of prep then what do i do? do i wait until i am prepared and then get form 186 signed by dean and have it sent to ecfmg? but that would mean i have to stay in another country and cant go back to my home in USA. what do i do?

Apply now and send the forms and stuff and choose a later eligibility period (such as Sept-Oct-Nov 2013).

2014 eligibility dates will be available in September 2013.
