Turkey Number of Years attended and Diploma Translation

Hi everybody,

While filling out the application for USMLE exam online, it asks about the number of years attended. The problem is that in my med school 1 year is devoted for English preparatory classes and then we study medicine for 6 more years. So Am I supposed to fill the number of years attended as 6 years or 7 years including the English preparatory year. (English preparatory class year is included in our transcript).

The second point (plz check the attachment): my diploma is written in English, so I thought I don't have to send a translation to ECFMG but then I noticed that degree type (M.D.) is not mentioned in the English part, instead, it's mentioned in the right margin in Turkish language.

Do you think I should translate my diploma just because of this word.
(degree type : M.D. is also mentioned in my transcript).

thanks in advance.....

The Zipped file folder you attached is invalid and I could not open it.

As for the number of years. You should say 7 years as long as the English preparation year is included in the transcript.

As for the translation requirement. I'd suggest you translate it to be in the safe side. Any authorized translator with an authentication stamp would do the job and it shouldn't cost you much. Moreover, when you send the translated copy you'll also send a copy of the original which means they'll also see the original Diploma. I also suggest you attach a note to the translation explaining to them that you translated it just because of that small word.

Yes. Now I can see your Diploma and I realized what you are talking about.
Now, I am even more confident in telling you that you must translate it, the ECFMG will not accept it this way.
