Registration Did not take the exam and now stuck with verification again!

Hi everyone ,
I am IMG doing my step 1, I had applied for USMLE step 1 in March 2010, I had window period of June July Aug .I couldn't make it in that window period and I got the 1 time extension for Sept Oct Nov. I had my exam appointment in Nov 25th.

I did NBME a week before but got 450. I wanted to get above 90 at least and if I had only 1 month more I knew could do it.

So i didn't take the exam thinking I will do it at end of Dec . Then after 15 days of my end of extension period I reapplied for step 1 paying all the amount.

I only had to finish the online-part and I didn't have to send any documents . I didn't know that again I had to go through the process of verification from my med school.

ECFMG have sent my docs for verification and my status right now in OASIS is awaiting for verification from my med college.

I called my med school back home but the college is closed for vacation. So the whole process is taking to long and I am getting frustrated but I can't just wait and do nothing.

So my questions are:
1) Do we have to go through verification from med college every time we apply or for every exam step 1, 2 CK, and CS? How many times is the verification required?
2) How many weeks will it take for me to get scheduling permit once the verification is complete?
3) My college is involved in EMSWP, so do my college need to send docs through mail or everything thing is done online through EMSWP?
4) My OASIS (Medical Education Credentials and Standard ECFMG Certificate) status says that "FORM 327-A" has been sent to college for verification. Is the verification of form 327 A also required to take the exams?

plz give yr advice and thanks a lot ..and to those who are planning to reapply, do make into to the exam on the first time because you might get stuck like me with the whole precess again.. thanks ..

The problem is that the ECFMG changed their rules recently. Now they require credentials verification before you are allowed to sit the exam.

You did not mention that you verified your credentials when you applied first, so am guessing now that you are new applicant, then the new rules apply to you.

Once you get your credentials verified you don't need to do that again. It's a one time process that is valid for all of the steps.

Your college has to communicate electronically with the ECFMG except for Form 186, that has to be signed and returned by mail.

Hope I answered all your questions.

i think i am getting someting .Yes heard somewhat about the new rule about credentials verification .

But last time i applied ,my med school responded and then i got the sheduling permit to sit in exame .Doesn't that mean that my credentials were verified and so i was allowed a permit to sit in exame ?

Your med school might have responded with Form 186 verification only, they did not verify your credentials.
The rules at that time allowed you to sit the exam with certificate of identification verification only and you did not need to verify your credentials.
If you can remember what your OASIS account says in the credentials verification section at that time, you will be able to understand why you are having this problem right now.

The ECFMG sends forms to your college and your college to fill the forms and verify your credentials (Diploma and transcript).
For detailed explanation about the process please read carefully here ECFMG Registration Steps
