France Deficiency letter from ECFMG!

Hello.
I would need some help, i have send my forms, and they can't process my application. here is the reason:

" The degree title you indicated is not the medical degree issued to graduates of medical schools in the country where you are attending medical school. "

I actually don't understand the problem. the degree title i indicated is that i'm a medical student now, i'm not yet a diplomed doctor.
There's no need to be a diplomed doctor, even a student can pass the test right? what's the problem?

Thank you for helping.

Default Check your graduation credentials

You are right, medical students do not require to submit their graduation credentials. However, you must have mentioned the degree that is going to be awarded to you when you graduate.

That degree might not be matching to the ECFMG records. For example in China the ECFMG only accepts MBBS degrees (no other degree accepted).

To check your country's required credentials visit this official ECFMG web page;
http://www.ecfmg.org/creds/refgde.html

ok well thanks for the answer.

In my case ( i'm in france ) the required credential is "Docteur en Medecine diploma"
Does it mean i can't pass the exam before i have my "docteur en medecine diploma" ?

thank you.

No, you don't need to get the diploma to take the exam. But, perhaps you mentioned some other degree and you did not mention "Docteur en Medecine diploma" when you registered initially.
You told them that you are medical student, but there's a question in the online registration asking you about the expected degree, what did you answer to that question?

Yann,

Don't confuse between doing the USMLE and getting an ECFMG Certification. The USMLE can be taken virtually anytime. For ECFMG you will need Step 1 and Step 2 scores and your medical title.

So in your case, yes you may very well pass the USMLE without any medical title BUT, you have to wait til you earn your "Docteur en Medecine" diploma to be ECFMG-certified. You have to collect all 3 items first: Step 1 score, Step 2 score (both components), and medical title.

Hope that helps.

My goal now, is to get a scheduling permit in order to schedul an exam date, and to do so i have to apply to usmle examination using ecfmg.

back at the topic:
I think the only part of the online registration that creates me problems is:

about medical school information, when they ask me: " title of medical degree" i guess i should answer: "docteur en medecine diploma". right?

But there's also something else, they ask me about the time before i get my final medical diploma, but this time is actually undefined yet. Because i have to complete an internship and during my internship i have to present a PhD dissertation / doctoral thesis and then i will get my final medical diploma, and folowing the speciality i choose, my internship will be more or less long so i can't really tell a precise date. BUT on the International Medical Education Directory, it is said that in france the curiculum duration is 8 years. i guess i should answer questions using the references of IMED right?

I sincerely apreciate that you previously answer me, because i don't know anybody who took the usmle exam, so that's even harder for me to do it right. thank you.

I did.

But there's this question:

So it sounded like he confused between taking the exam and have the medical title.

But yeah, whatever.

@Yann:
I don't understand the French medical education system, but it looks like a long journey ahead, so good luck to you!
