Arrow Student then will be graduate

Hi, everyone! I'm a medical student expecting to graduate and recieve diploma at late June 2011. I've registered in IWA and already paid for USMLE Step 1 exam. Obviously, my school doesn't participate in EMSWP, so now I have form 183, which is ready to be sent to ECFMG. Now here's the question.

I'm expected to send my diploma as soon as I recieve it, with 186 form and others. But is it necessary for getting scheduling permit right now? I've heard rumors that getting the permit for Step 1 and getting ECFMG certificate (after both steps) are two completely separate processes. The latter requires form 186+diploma, the former doesn't (coz I send form 183, which is necessary for a student, not graduate, to send). Is it true or not?

Thanks in advance!

Since you are still a student. Form 183 suffices. You don't need to send the Diploma to get the scheduling permit.

They should send you the scheduling permit soon.

However, in some cases, if the ECFMG employee notices that you will be graduating within your eligibility period (just one month from today), he/she might hold on and send you a request to wait until you get your graduation papers (including Form 186) before processing your scheduling permit.

Let us know what happens with you.

So, here's how it ended
I've sent form 183 and finally got my permit one week ago. That's all, folks
