Default Bank account in USA

The international charges per transaction using my home country credit/ debit card is too high.

Is it advisable to open an American bank account just for the purposes of paying exam fees, eras, etc?

I would advise getting a travel card and putting money in it and using it for transactions instead of just opening an account in the states.

Yes, it is good for you if you open American back account for exam fee, with this account you are exempted from extra charges.
