What do the performance bands in NBME Score reports mean, does it mean I got every question right or wrong in that field?

(Remember NBMEs don't give you exact measurements of your performance in a particular subject. They give you a "performance band" which I have always interpreted as a sort of confidence interval)

Straight from the score report itself:
"Performance bands indicate areas of relative strength and weakness. Some bands are wider than others. The width of a performance band reflects the precision of measurement: narrower bands indicate greater precision. An asterisk indicates that your performance band extends beyond the displayed portion of the scale. Small differences in the locations of bands should not be over-interpreted."

I still dont understand the asterisk. On my General Principles of Health and Disease I didnt get a performance bar, i only got an asterisk. What does this mean? that I did really bad on this subject? and what the heck is it anyways?
