GRE is needed if you want to go to graduate school in USA.

It's not needed for residency and it's not needed for USMLE.

Are you an IMG medical student? If yes, you don't need it. You just need to do USMLE.

The only benefit that I can think of, is if you want to go for Master degree in a US medical school.

Other than that, you don't need it. Just do the USMLE and apply for residency and become a doctor in USA.

In USA, there's no clinical master degree, there's only academic master degrees.

Clinical path:
USMLE then Residency then fellowship then US doctor (called MD in USA)

Academic path:
GRE then graduate school master (called MS) then PhD then professor in University

If you want to be a doctor (physician) MD in USA, you don't need GRE

Academic posts generally have lower salaries than clinical posts.

Why take an MS/PHD? It's a waste of time. Medicine is already a long career path.

If you want a higher salary, go to fellowship (subspecialization). Like if you take an I.M. residency for 3 years, you go on into taking, for example, Oncology.
