Unhappy img from India

hi everyone!!!
i completed my mbbs in 2014 and internship in 2015,
but my medical school diploma will be issued to me i June 2016.
i took step 1 and got 224(a really disappointing score).
i urgently want some guidance on whether i shd get some work experience from my own country or should i take step 2 ck as soon as possible?

Hi
I suggest that you finish ck with a aim of >250, because the seasons just getting tougher every year.
I'm also an IMG from India and have completed all steps and am waiting for match results in a few hours.

Ya u can make up for it on step 2. Also 224 is not a terrible score, people still match with step1 scores in 220s, though you may have to apply broadly focussing on community based and community with university affiliation hospitals. I know 2 people with scores between 217-230s on steps, who applied broadly and to a large number of programs (200+); they had good lors and they matched this week. Though its harder every year, u have a chance if u score well in ck, apply smartly and improve your cv by doing observerships to get good lors. Best of luck!

Thank you so much dsrp for your advice.
Can you please give me the list of community universities where I
can apply and possibly match?
Also can I get the list of universities from where I can do my observorship?
Again thank you so much dsrp for taking out sometime off your busy schedule to reply.
And thank you in advance

I did electives dude so I have no idea of list for observerships. Each hospital has a different policy for observers, so u guys need to do a lot of research on the internet and find positions suitable for u.
And there are more than 400 IM residency programs in US (university, community and community affiliated combined). I have not prepared the list yet as I am preparing for ck. Also, everyone prepares their own list of programs they would apply (as each program has its own criteria), so its basically useless if you look at other's lists. You can find all the programs in AMA freida online where you can search each of the program's websites and make your list of the programs u are interested in applying. Some programs also offer observerships to imgs as well, so that would be helpful when u look through freida.
