Default Fellowship after postgrad

I'm an MBBS doctor from India. I plan to go to the states for a fellowship post my Masters. Can someone please tell me what exams and qualifications are required to apply for it. And what will help in my selection. I also want to work there for a few years after the fellowship. Is that possible and how? Is there any place I can contact other doctors who are already done with fellowships? Please help. Thanks

Hello. So you have completed post graduation in India?
Even if you have, its almost impossible to get fellowships without residency in ACGME accredited program. Most fellowhsips require you to be board certified in internal medicine (I am assuming that is the speciality you are interested). So unless you know fellowship directors who can pull some strings for you, you have to first complete residency and then do fellowship in the US. You have to give usmle 1,2ck and 2cs to be eligible to apply for residency. Working after fellowship has a lot of factors which come into play (which area/field, location, your visa status, etc). Generally though, it will not be that hard to work in the US once you are done with a fellowship.
