Info From graduation to specialisation?

I wonder if someone can explain the route from graduation from medical school to specialization in the US? I am planning to graduate from medical school and complete Step 1&2 at the same time, what happens next? application directly to speciality or else?

In UK, graduates need to complete two years of foundation training, which is a paid full time job, before applying for speciality training.

Thanks in advance for your info

Kind Regards

In USA you apply to residency right after your graduation and ECFMG certification.

Residency duration varies from 3 to 7 years.

If you want to further subspecialize like for example cardiology or endocrinology then you do 2-3 years fellowship after residency.
