Listening Should I go ahead?

I am an IMG from India. Have always been an above average student in school, but here when i start usmle, things change..I studied very hard for 8 months for step 1. scored 235-240 on the nbmes. But in the real one, i scored 212. I am depressed, dunno whether i should go ahead. i want to go into pediatrics. Are there any chances? I am waiting for my Green card which will be due soon.

Agree with add1. I have heard of someone(IMG needing a visa) getting pediatrics with a much lower score than yours. Your green card is a big bonus. Do great on CK and get some USCE in pediatrics with LoRs of course and you should not have any problem!

Good Luck!

Do really well on the other steps and they will see this was just an exception, and you could just tell them during the interview you had explosive diarrhea on the day of this exam.
I would say definitely keep on going. You have a strong chance. Just let this be a driving force to work harder next time. Good luck!

Ohh another thing, I don't think pediatrics is that competitive to get into, so I wouldn't be that worried if I were you

Thank you ppl, for all this encouragement..Means a lot..
Once you dnt get your desired score, you start questioning and doubting each and every step. I have started step 2 prep nw with all positive energy..Thank you!!! but one advice from my experience, dnt become too harsh on yourself while preparing and definitely dnt study too much and fatigue yourself..
Take it easy...
