The year of graduation does matter. Many residency programs (I would say 70-80% of them) filter out applicants when they are more than 5 years since graduation.

They have several reasons for that:
1) They are not sure that an old grad would function well during residency where the work load is high and needs a fresh graduate.
2) They think that old "experienced" graduates would make problems but not willing to learn and engage as they are already trained
3) Old graduate might be arrogant and "boss" the other young residents

However, there are still residency programs that do not mind old graduates, specially those community based hospitals which are looking for residents to do service rather than looking for residents to be trained.

Another problem you might face is that Anesthesiology is somewhat preferred by AMGs and therefore IMGs have less chances in getting matched there, you can check the NRMP results for prior years.

Nevertheless, many many old graduates that I personally know were able to make it and get matched, I encourage you to check the Old-Grads tag link at the bottom of the thread and you'll see others just like you.

One way of circumventing around this issue is by getting direct connections with residency programs to avoid the filter.

So the only person who can answer your question, is yourself. Are you willing to take the risk and put the efforts and fight for it or you are fine now and you don't really want to die for residency in US.
