Question Clinical experience abroad...worth it?

Where I am, in order to get the medical license to practice, one has to do a one year internship in local hospitals.

I plan to go to the US, and with that in mind, is this at all beneficial? Would my time be better spent studying more hours/day for the USMLEs and getting that out of the way faster (and moving on to pursue clinical experience/residency in the US), or is there any value whatsoever in doing the internship for one year?

Default My opinion

If your internship is not a requirement to get your final medical school transcript and diploma then I'd say spending time doing the USMLE steps and doing some kind of USCE is much better.

Clinical experience outside USA is excessively disregarded by program directors. A simple observership in USA with a good LoR is way more better in your CV than your own country internship.

On the other hand. You have up to 3 years after graduation in which you are still regarded a fresh graduate. So I feel that your internship is going to solidify your clinical skills then there's no harm in doing it and then after it do the USMLE and the USCE.
