Info Need to know about Post doc fellowship

Hello
I have recently heard about post doc fellowship in USA before getting into residency. I want to know what exactly it is..
1) Does it deal with research work?
2) If so, then who can apply for it and what are the qualifications required?
3) Is it mandatory to have some research experience before you apply?
4) Is it counted as a USCE?
5) Is step 1 score required to apply?
6) How important would it play a role in improving CV?
7) I am a fresh graduate, preparing for step 1(which is going to be my first step) and I do not have any research experience or any publications. Kindly tell me, How difficult it would be for me get into such a fellowship?

1) Does it deal with research work?
It is mainly research, it can be clinical or basic science

2) If so, then who can apply for it and what are the qualifications required?
It depends, if he/she is getting hired for a specific project or as an assistan scientist, usually the requirements are PhD/MD(or equivalent)/MS

3) Is it mandatory to have some research experience before you apply?
It is not necessary, at least the principal investigator is looking for some one to do a specific function

4) Is it counted as a USCE?
No, it counts as research

5) Is step 1 score required to apply?
Not required, but certainly will make you more competitive

6) How important would it play a role in improving CV?
It will improve your CV, no doubt about it

7) I am a fresh graduate, preparing for step 1(which is going to be my first step) and I do not have any research experience or any publications. Kindly tell me, How difficult it would be for me get into such a fellowship?
You can get it, you may need to apply in more than one Med School an start Ad honorem first, but it is not impossible

Hope it was helpful, GL

Thank you that was very informative.

What visa would be a post doc post?

Is it salaried? Does it require a mininum commitment of time?

How different would it be from a research assistant/associate?

How to apply for post doc?

Thank you @usmlethree for this valuable info. This was really helpful.

I am not an MD/MS or PhD holder. I have completed my graduation(MBBS) from India.
Can I still apply for such programs?
