Egypt Medical School Transfer to USA

Hello.
So where I am from (Egypt), med school is 6 years, I am now in year 2. I would really like to continue my education in the United States. So my question is, can I take step one and use the score to transfer to a med school in the U.S. to continue my clinical years there?
Does passing step one make me eligible to study in the U.S.?

Your USMLE Step 1 Score won't help at all.

Thanks. Well, I have another question. If I attend an American university that is not in the united states (like the American University of Beirut, for example), will I be considered an IMG or AMG?
I would've thought IMG, but thing is, admission to universities like that still require the MCAT and stuff like that.

Since I am who was asking in the thread "Transforming from IMG to AMG! "
Let me tell you something, what is done is done !! we have to accept this truth !!
The only alternative way I have found, is to go Carribean medical schools since their rotations in U.S.
But my Advice is not to go there & stay where are you now. Since you would be considered IMG & you will open eyes on you since this the alternative way that most U.S students who were not accepted at U.S medical school go there. In addition to that, it seems in the near future that hospitals in U.S would fire those carribeans, there a thread in that forums, search for it.

Regarding American University outside U.S, you will be considered IMG too.
The other point, American University of Beirut, has the same system of U.S schools in 4 years pre-med & other 4 years medical education.

You would be considered IMG even if you go to the Cornell University in Qatar !!

Again, concentrate in your study, USMLE & U.S clinical experience.

Good Luck

Well, thing is, I want Neurosurgery. And I heard that it's very competitive, and from what I read, being an IMG will really decrease my chances of getting that unless I get a ridiculously high score in step 1. So I dunno...

You wouldn't be able to transfer into a medical school in the US, I think - indeed, you'd probably have to transfer into an undergraduate school in order to complete pre-med requirements, if you are in a typical 6-yr MBBS program. That means a year or two of undergrad (at $10,000 min/yr), then the cost, risk, and trouble of applying to medical school ($2,000 - $3,000, and only 40-50% of applicants get into medical school), then four years of US medical school ($30,000 - $70,000 per year * 4 yrs, plus living expenses). That's an investment of 5-6 years and $200,000+. I'm not saying that it's impossible, just that you should find out exactly what's entailed before setting your heart on it...
