Star Difference in score of AMG's and IMG's

I was curious whether IMG's score more or AMG's (on Average) and why AMG's if they score less still have better chance than IMG's?

Default Of course AMGs

AMGs score higher than IMGs on average
Also AMGs have higher passing rate than IMGs in general.

IMGs have two extreme groups, one with very high scores but at the other end you have thousands failing the test repeatedly which make their average lower.

Also, even if AMGs score lower than IMGs, I think it's perfectly acceptable that they get more chances than IMGs, simply because this is their country! What would you feel if your country starts to accept foreigners more than the national citizens of your country? I bet you would feel awful.

Also, remember, that many residency programs are simple extensions of University Med Schools, and It's understandable that they take their own students (even though with lower scores) instead of taking students from outside.

Another thing many of us IMGs tend to ignore is that AMGs give the exam after studying just 6 WEEKS on average ? How many IMGs will score 250+ on the exam after studying 1.5 months ?

Best education system in the world.

Haha so true. They get 5 weeks off only. Whereas IMGs spend over a year prepping. Best education system in the world, agreed.

not completely true , AMG's read goljan , levinson and other text book for their normal study , since the beginning and they start preparing form the very start and in the end its just a revision of FA and UW that they do in their spare 2 months , very easy to see that a good AMG would start with step 1 prep early ... in short its not a two month prep its a 2 year prep with a 2 months revision ......

on the other hand IMG have totally different pattern of books and lengthy written exams which are low scoring and difficult to pass .... so its very justified that IMGs take 1 year to adjust to US pattern and books and more over we are careful to get a good score so we take extra time becoz its tuff for IMGs to get in ....

but I do believe that AMGs should be given preference becoz its their country but its not that they are smarter or score 250+ in two month .....

why AMGs are prefered...??

simply because its their OWN COUNTRY... its their OWN SYSTEM...

IMGs stand a chance just because some residency seats remain vaccant...

It's a general notion, that AMG's are prefferred. what i would like to clearify is that- they have better exposure of their medical system, and know their basics well.
but finally, it's an individuals grasp of the knowledge, that sees him through the exams, apart from these reasons, i don't think they stand a better chance.
