So am putting a poll of commonly encountered websites and let's see your votes.
Am not going to include usmle-forums.com in the list to avoid research bias!
The list is alphabetical.

Do you know why USMLE Forum, largest USMLE community is the best
Because they are the largest online community
And do you know why is that
Because they are the number one in Google search results for many keywords including if you type usmle-forums.com !!!

You guys have to work hard to improve your SEO to gain some momentum

thanks Londoner for your thoughtful insight

usmle-forums.com is a new website but it's growing amazingly fast and we have over 150 active members after two weeks from launching

It takes some time before our website appears in Google's first page of results and we are working hard on that

I signed up for prep4usmle just to see what it looks like
and here's their welcome email:

Quote:
Thank you for registering. You can login at http://www.prep4usmle.com .
<br /><br />
-------------------------------------<br /> This email was sent to you from <a href="http://www.prep4usmle.com/">Prep4usmle Forum</a>.<br /> To unsubscribe edit your profile settings for email notifications.<br />
-------------------------------------
<br /><br />
It seems that even their welcome message is having an html problem!!
and even they don't have a dedicated email, as the email is coming from prep4usmle@gmail.com, which mean that their email communication is not secured by a dedicated server!!
prep4pusmle used to be a good forum but not any more

As for usmleforum.com, they don't have member to member email and PM facility and most of their users end up posting their personal email online! they don't have polls, lots of messages are mere spams and ads, lots of messages explicitly infringing on copyright, no attachments facility, down server on several occasions, eye straining brown background, ...etc. So although I might be biased as am a staff here but go there and check every point I made here and compare it with this website.

Yea, I think value MD is more for chatting with other medical students and discussing on medical education.

Default small suggestions

USMLEFOrum.com website looks boring

Aipp.net is also boring and has too many MCQs in the forum, anyone can get a q bank and post these

and as for suggestions for this forum, there should be more suggestions for the IMG friendly residency links

My suggestion for this forum would be to include a sub-section under USMLE Step 1 section where we can quiz each other photos/slides and questions.

Default Chat feature

None of the USMLE forums have a live chat feature is there some rule of thumb for forums that people cant chat and it would make finding a study partner much easier

Thumbs Up

When I took Steps 1 & 2CK, usmle-forums was not available (or I hadn't discovered it yet!). So, by convention, I googled something, usmleforum popped up first, prep4usmle popped up next and the beat goes on. One can retrieve invaluable information through these forums, but has to be veeeeeeery patient and have pleeeeeenty of time, which is usually not the case if you are studying for any USMLE step. I soon gave up, but later on I accidentaly came across askdoc. This is not a typical usmle forum site, but askdoc's advice is a kind of masterpiece in the field. Very concise, very well organized, very realistic and plausible.

Fortunately, before completing my USMLE series, I found usmle-forums. I regret not having joined earlier. I have no conflict of interest, I do NOT belong to the team of administrators, I have no profit in any way. I truly believe that usmle-forums will soon become the gold standard for usmle takers, provided the administrators maintain this highly professional format, the well organized subtopics, the easy and comprehensible access to FAQ's and "hot" usmle stuff, the neaty polls, as well as their commitment to the privacy of the members.

Well done, guys, keep up the good work! You inspire us all, the warm supporters of knowledge distribution and dreamers of a position in a US residency program!

Thumbs Up My Honest Idea

Let me tell u the story:

I've been studying throughout my USMLE preparation lonely i.e., no study partner nearby with me . Learned about www.usmleforum.com , and asked regarding my problems through my threads in that forum.. I noticed that there is rarely a person who could provide reply the threads... and I found all the other problems in it as pinpointed by lee-usmle. I agree him 100% and if he was to not pinpoint these issues I would certainly have done it now, but as he mentioned it I think rewriting will be merely a wasting of time. That forum was boring and I preferred even studying alone rather than being confused and await to receive replies for my threads. If u people do not agree me, just log on to that forum and see how many members are begging for solution of their problems and unfortunately do not receive any help. I think it should be annoying for the officials of that forum.
Then after being in my studies alone for a month or two I found the website .www.mdlinks.net and there was some info about www.usmle-forums.com. Initially I thought that this could be the same www.usmleforum.com. However I noticed the dash in this website and got that this is another forum... when I logged on and registered for it I saw some amazing assistance to the members. There was no thread containing a problem that was without reply.. and not only reply but 100% efficient and sincere reply...... guess what docs!!! after that day my info increased unexpectedly about the methods of studying, which form of NBME to choose, how to distribute the break time during the exam, how to manage the study just a few weeks before exam , how much time is needed to prepare for the each step for an average IMG ...... it has been wonderful and fantastic since that time and I am feeling so strong as if there are thousands of experienced ones who will help me throughout the steps.

Due to all the above mentioned facts in my thread, I am really eager to meet the officials of this forum if life allowed i.e., if I successfully pass all steps and get to US and I were alive.

A few days ago I was monitoring the results of all the polls of this forum and I noticed that the poll result for best forum was that it's www.usmleforum.com , that moment was really annoying for me and I totally disagreed that.

I am certain that this forum is the best and obviously will gain the perfect reputation throughout the world. U know docs now I tell to those students in my community who've just started their USMLE preparation and ask me for guidance, to come to our forum, because I no longer consider this forum as a mean of commercialization, but service to our holly profession and humanity. Therefore I am not going to poll at all because our forum is the best and I don't like any other one.

Lastly I would like to say that please notice that I am not an official of this forum but only a member... I have no personal profit for this thread, however these sentences originated from the core of my heart....

Await for that day to see this forum ranking top.....
Well done STAFF of this forum and all the active and impressing members..

I have to say that this website www.usmle-forums.com is much more organized than any other forum I found.
Specially the tags below each thread, they let find what you need so easily, in addition I think the staff are editing each and every post so that it's easily understood and linked to other resources.

Thumbs up for usmle-forums.com and wishing you good luck

studentdoctor.net is for US med students
usmleforum.com is for IMGs and specially Indians and Arabs

usmle-forums.com is better than both of them in terms of organization and adequate filtering of information but unfortunately it's not yet popular as the other two.

Wish it will be in the future

Thumbs Up USMLE-Forums.com is the best website

I was not aware about this website usmle-forums.com when I was reading for my Step 1.
Now that I found it, I regret spending time in usmleforum.com and prep4usmle.com this website is way way better organized and much more informative.

Good job, guys

Bless you all

Thumbs Up Good job

US medical students live on studentdoctor.net website and they don't really like any other website and I am one of them.
But when I glanced over this website, I realized how beautiful it is.
I respect the unbiased approach of it's staff and the way they continue to post and help people.

The only thing that's not yet good in this site, is that most of the members are IMGs and most of the discussions are geared toward the IMG, I'd love to see more US students here and I'll be telling my juniors to come here
