Default chances in radiology for an IMG with a second attempt pass in CS

Dear friends,
I need some sincere advice to take a life changing decision at this point. I am an Img with 250 in both steps. But, may be I didn't practice enough the first time around, I failed cs in ICE part. I am thankfully done with it now. This seems to be a major black mark on the CV. I was always a radiology aspirant and have been trying to get into radiology research with out any contacts. I do have an offer in hand right now. But what are my chances of getting into radiology residency after say 9 months of research (hopefully with at least one publication).
Am I day dreaming ..? should I change my path to internal medicine (also difficult with an attempt) and try to be realistic ..? I hope people who are currently in the match process with a good idea of this year's radiology competition could answer. Thanks a lot. Your opinion means a lot to me.

You never know without trying. You do have good scores for s1 and ck but a fail is a huge red flag. Maybe if you do research inside a hospital with a residency program they can see how good you are.

Problem is there are so many applicants all wanting the same thing without any red flags....

With that said, nothing is impossible. If you have enough money keep trying but realistically speaking, you are probably gonna have to go to Internal Medicine... although if it makes you feel any better, i know a few people that did Rads after IM...

Good luck

India hello

hi hope you doing good.

actually i happened to fail in CS too. So i have been reading a lot on blogs and forums that failing CS is bad of course for you CV but if you are applying for specialties like RADIO the board directors dont mind having a failed attempt in CS compared to those in IM/FM/psych/paeds these fields are particularly strict in having CS passed in first attempt.

So all i am trying to say that if you have really scores in step 1 and CK with research and LORs you are good to go

Wel i know in my case i got only 211 in step 1 and 209 in CK considering that i will pass CS this time I am still in a bad situation but never the less i will try for FM and psch in the matches and also since i am IMG i need visa too. So if i am trying then i cant see any reason for you to not go for the matches.

all the very best for whatever you choose to do.

may god bless you with success.
