Surgery Query regarding neurosurgery residency

Hi,
I am an international grad student graduated in march 2011 and want to apply for a neurosurgical residency program in the United States. Can anyone please help me out a bit with what kind of credentials would I be required to possess to get a match for the same. I am yet to give any of my steps and not sure where to start. But one thing that I m sure of is the field of my interest. So really looking for some help and expert advice towards it.

It is very competitive as AMGs like this domain. In general IMGs who get into it has double 99 scores and USCE.

Angry Hands on clinical experience in India

thank you for your help. Would my working under 2-3 neurosurgeons in India assisting them in surgeries and having an underway research project in neurosurgery help my application? N would they give any weightage to an academic background in medical school- as in distinctions or gold medals?

Any postgraduate experience in that domain will help you, but the most important is double 99 scores and if possible some USCE.
