Cool Observership Programs for international students

Hi everyone

I am kindly asking for your advice as to where should I do my observership. I am an international student and have recently completed Step 1 and Step 2 CK. I am currently working in the ICU department in my home country and preparing myself for Step 2 CS. I have already completed my internship year at a hospital in my home country so I'm guessing I'm not eligible for an elective in the US??

I would really like to do an observership in the US as this might help me when I'm ready to do the USMLE Residency Match. I need help as to which universities offer observerships for international students and how I should proceed to apply.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks ya'll.

Observerships are worthless in the eyes of residency program directors. What you should be looking for are clerkships (if you're still in school) or externships (if you've already graduated.

Having hands-on experience that is residency relevant is key when you go to match.

Doing an externship program in the speciality you want to match in will be great USCE on your application.

you really need to get any kind of experience you can get. observerships are better than nothing but hands on does look better. research is also very valuable on applications.
