Default how many LORs are needed?

I was wondering that how many LORs are needed to get into a residency program for IMGs? And is it necessary that at least one has to be from a physician in da states? I heard that 4 are needed. Is it true? And i also heard that IMGs are not accepted into residency programs if they don't have an LOR from a physician in the states. Is this also true?

Well most of the hospitals require at minimum 3 LORS plus a decant letter, but this is not only for the IMGs, this really apply for all the medical students..

But of course that's depend of what hospital and what residency your are trying to apply. The LORS, the research give you a plus but the only general requirement are the steps.

I have a couple more questions. First, what's a decant letter? And second, is the LOR supposed to be from a physician of the same specialty Where we want to apply to? (like a surgery LOR for surgery residency)

Ok a decant letter is exactly what it mean a letter from you decant saying that you complete your program and recommending you to any program... I suppose they don't have any problem to give it to you.

And about the LORs well let's say it should be oriented to the residency or fellowship that you will be applying.. It represent the interest and experience in that field.. So focus your goal and do everything possible to reach it
