Default Residency Acceptance

My son completed his Medical degree, MBBS, in India. However, he took 9 years to complete this 5 years degree.
Would this affect his chances of Residency placement, even if he scores well in all his USMLE tests?

the year of graduation is more important than the number of years is took to graduate. taking an externship program is a great way to boost your chances of being matched.
