Default Should I take my step 1 exam?

I feel like nobody around me understands the importance of this exam.

If you analyze what makes a good physician, that is progressive fast and good learning, diagnostic abilities and of course a lot of hard work.

Since all the people that surround me are either bad physicians or non physicians, is easy just to say "take it".

Again I have been an A student always and the idea of not having an A in the one exam I would love the most is just terrifying.

I am currently a couple of days away from my test and don't know if I should delay it (by that I mean, I must pay for it again). My goal is to apply for IM. Last UW assessment exam I did got a score of 233. I am at least wanting a 250 because many people have told me that they have not got that many interviews with scores between 240-245.
I have studied for a while now and feel that sometimes anxiety and stupid mistakes in the questions are just making me not score more. (While reviewing answers I just see that I knew the answer, only that I didn't think about that extra thing or didn't discard this other answer)

UW- 150 questions to go.
Kaplan - 50% done
Becker and other questions banks, almost done.
FA - done.
Kaplan LN - done a while ago.

What should I do? Think another month would make me go higher in my test? If so, what should i focus on? Any tips about reducing stress and question ability?

You should take one or two NBMEs as soon as possible. Things will be clearer then.

I took 1 today. NBME 7: 235

Again i wasn't that difficult but there is a lot of material that has to be memorized, cause concepts are there.

Again, anyone shares the opinion that nowadays, IMG have to get a score higher than 240, perhaps 250sh?

Thank for the reply.

Then it depends on you. NBMEs are quite predictable, maybe up to 10 points, depending on many test-day factors.

You won't feel ready for this test. Ever. No matter what you do, what you read, what you memorize... Even if you feel ready, there will be questions in the real deal you didn't prepare for and they will take you by surprise.

So... if time allows and you're still with the same study enthusiasm, extend your period for a couple of weeks, take another NBME and see if you are happy with your grade then. But, if time is a limiting factor or you're about to burnout, take the test and move on.

For the second part...it's hard to say, check this links and see for yourself how people with those scores -IMGs and AMGs- did two years ago in the Match.
