Saudi Arabia Prometric Center in Riyadh?

Can someone in Riyadh or someone who has done this exam in riyadh plz help?
the exam center as written on the Prometric website has the following address

8719: RIYADH (NBME), SAUDI ARABIA
SAUDI COMMISSION FOR HEALTH SPECIALITIES
DIPLOMATIC QUARTER
RIYADH NBME

there is no phone number and the directions from Google map are not accurate. when I checked on Google chrome it sent me to another location altogether!
if anyone has any idea where exactly this place is i would really appreciate it you could help out.
Thanks!

Prometric center in riyadh is located inside Diplomatic headquarters. I have given my step 1 exam there months back. when you enter DQ from Makkah road, turn right from the first round about after crossing the check post. after turning right you will see Egyptian embassy on your left and right next to egyptian embassy you will see SAUDI COMMSSION FOR HEALTH SPECIALITIES building. The USMLE Exam Center is in the 1st Floor of that building .. I know the map on prometric website is wrong and i filed a complaint to them as well after the exam. not sure why didnt they update it. anyways Good Luck !

Did they speak english?
What time should I get there?
I guess it will be different for guys and girls, but did they have any prayer rooms etc
Thanks a lot for your help!

well its a good center. nice and quiet i would say . There were total of 7 stations in the room so not so many people appear from riyadh center i guess. In my time there were i think total of 5 people altogether. and i think (im not sure about it) girls and guys were at the same place. and yes there is a small prayer area outside the exam room along with coffee, tea juices and snacks for the examinee's.

Reach there by 7:30AM Max. Problem is that Saudi Commission Health of Specialities staff arent that good in English esp the ones at the gate. In my time it took me 30 mins to locate inside the building where exactly is USMLE center because there are 2-3 Prometric centers inside that building which are for Saudi Medical exams and stuff. So you just have to go directly to First Floor and there will be a Board written USMLE EXAM CENTER. thats the place u will go and the staff there knows english

im not sure if you can go into the room (where everyone is giving the exam etc) but yeah u can go the building and the first floor where the usmle exam center is so that u save time on ur day of exam.

Things you MUST take :
1) Scheduling Permit of Step 1 ( very important )
2) Prometric booking confirmation page
3) Passport
4) Iqama original ( its better to take original )

You ll be issued a locker there where u can keep all ur stuff u r carrying so dont hesitate to take extra stuff with u like drinks food or anything.

All the best

Default Visitors giving exam in Saudi Arabia

I am a doctor from Pakistan planning step 1 in Dec ‘12/Jan ’13 But I will be in Medina, KSA at that time. I’ll be there on a visitor’s visa, however I’ve noticed everyone here saying an “iqama” along with the passport will be required to appear for the exam (as a source of valid photo id)
Does this mean I cannot give the exam there?

sorry for late reply. first of all you have to register ur self on ECFMG Online Services page. and then onwards u will be required to fill out few forms by your university and urself and send it to ECFMG. once your forms are accepted you will be eligible to apply for step 1 exam. within a week or so after u apply after u apply, ur scheduling permit for step 1 will be available online which is required to give the exam. Good sources are Kaplan Step 1 series as a baseline book, Use Goljans Pathology as Kaplans pathology is a but superficial and First Aid for step 1 for revisions. these r the basic books required. tailor each subject according to ur understanding, if u r uncomfortable try any other book related. Use UWORLD and Kaplan Qbank as a question practice source to make urself more familiar with exam questions. : )

sorry for late reply. yes i believe so its for both step 1 and step 2 ck. well for scheduling an exam visit http://www.prometric.com/usmle .. choose ur region to saudi arabia and search for riyadh center. riyadh center is btw not a very active center, they conduct like 3-4 exams per month. alternate option is going to dubai.

Dr Junaid the prometric website is displaying seat availability on Mon Dec 3 only. There is no info about Jan 13 and onwards. Is the prometric center there really so busy or prometric just doesnt have current data from that center? Also on wat days is the test administered at the Riyadh center? (in karachi its wed n thur every week 9am to 5pm)

Hi, I also have the same problem. I tried checking the availability of the Riyadh prometric centre but it does not go beyond December 2012. But other centers have opened booking for 2013. Why is this happening? The riyadh center hasn't closed has it??

well what i have experienced is that Riyadh center is quite a small one with hardly 7 stations init. and they conduct every monday. but im not sure if they r conducting every mon or not. but yes staff is small and center is small so thats why data abt Next year is not available yet.

no its not closed. its just that the center is small one with 7 stations with a limited staff. so i believe their schedule for next year exam days might not be confirmed yet or something. its a very premature usmle center. i think its been an year since its operational.

this center has the exam on mondays only and is closed on major local holidays. both CK and step 1 are held at this center on the same day i.e. Monday. i dont think it is a very busy center as it is held only once a week and both step 1 and step 2 are on the same day. there are only around 7 seats.
i think you will not be able to register for 2013 until the month of Jan starts. contact prometric to confirm this.

I dont think this should be a problem as long as you have another form of ID such as your Pak ID card. Some Saudi students used to go to UAE to give this exam before there was a center in KSA, and of course they were on UAE visit visa. Many people give it in USA on visit visa also. But you should confirm with prometric just to be sure.

I think Passport is the only document required. Riyadh center never asked me for my Iqama.

I've heard the Riyadh center is very busy and you'll have to get a date weeks before the exam? Is it really that bad or that rush is seasonal?

Default Women's testing center in Riyadh?

Hi, I am a female planning to take my step 1 exam in Riyadh...I have already registered online but when I looked up the place on google it claims its for "MEN". I called them and they said they recently created a separate women's location and they gave me a bunch of numbers to call but 1) no one answers those lines and 2) when they do they have no idea where to direct me to get the appropriate information

have any females taken the exam in Riyadh recently? or is anyone planning on taking it in April? can anyone tell me where to go or what to do?

did you register on prometric? when you register on prometric they will give you the exact address which is listed as saudi comission of health sciences located right next to egyptian ambassy in the diplomatic quarters of riyadh. if you are a native of riyadh it wont be hard to find, otherwise any cab driver will find the place easily. the phone number of this location will not be provided as per center rules i tried to get it as well but prometric told me some centers do not want candidates calling them directly.
this center is for both males and females so dont worry you will be fine iA

Hey! thanks for the info! when did you take your exam there? thats exactly the address it gave me on my confirmation from prometric. but when i looked up the place on google and somehow managed to get a phone number the guy told me that they recently created a new testing center for women. the problem is...i cant figure out where that is! i am not a native to Riyadh unfortunately. I live in Dhahran so I just wanted to get all this sorted out in advance instead of having an anxiety attack the day before my exam! lol.

Best of luck with ur exam. Well to my knowledge the USMLE prometric center is for both male and females. And u wont find any info or contact numbers. I have given both my steps there last year n faced its location problems bcoz the address on prometric website was wrong with no phone numbers. Anyways i posted the detailed map of the center on this page earlier and here it is "Prometric center in riyadh is located inside Diplomatic headquarters. when you enter DQ from Makkah road enterance gate, turn right from the first round about after crossing the check post. after turning right you will see Egyptian embassy on your left and right next to egyptian embassy you will see SAUDI COMMSSION FOR HEALTH SPECIALITIES building. The USMLE Exam Center is in the 1st Floor of that building" ... Make sure you tell the Cab driver u want to go to "حي السفارات" from Makkah Road enterance gate and after crossing security checkpost turn right from first roundabout. And inshaAllah you ll be there. Make sure you be there 40mins before ur scheduled time so that u dont waste time finding it .. All the best.

Passport is necessary. Basically any Valid ID that has your Photo, Full name and Signature on it is considered as valid ID. So passport is the safest option in this case.

The USMLE Exam Center is in the 1st Floor of that building .. I know the map on prometric website is wrong and i filed a complaint to them as well after the exam. not sure why didnt they update it. anyways Good Luck !

Its easy, just go to the prometric website and follow the instructions.
The center is very nice and the staff is good. I had a very good experience
for both of my exams in Riyadh.
If you need further help then please feel free to contact me.

Anyone recently took the step exam in Riyadh? I'm thinking of changing my testing region from India to Saudi (since I'm already in Saudi) so wanted a heads up

Default Riyadh Center Exam Dates

Hey guys. Does the Riyadh center conduct exams in the beginning of the year? I checked the website now and there are available dates until December only. Beyond that theres nothing at all. So is it that they dont conduct exams in the beginning of ther year or is it just that they dont update the website until the new year begins.
Please if someone took a usmle exam in Riyadh center in the beginning of any year let me know so I can figure out what to do.
Thanks.

I think yes they conduct it and as u suggested they don't update the website. Keep in ur mind that they only have Mondays for usmle exam, so try to register early. Good luck!

It shouldn't be a problem as the people at the prometric center ask most importantly for an ID with your signature (usually your passport) and that should be enough.
