Hi i want to apply for elective in usa. In my country, our school do not have curriculm for elective, and most of elective always ask about academic credit. Am i still eligible for applying if I answer no to academic credit? Thank you. My dean keeps asking me about it

Mekel1991,

I faced a similar problem. But luckily, Dean agreed to make a transcript that had an extra page stating the ' Credit hours'. These credit hours were calculated based on the number of hours we attend clinic in specific sub-speciality during med school. See if you can try that. As such they will have to do this credit thing for MSPE, so they might as well add it to transcript.
btw what med school are u in?

I'm from Indonesia. So it will only list hours from the elective ? Because my med school do not have any subspecialty rotation.. Could you explain it more specifically so maybe I could negotiate with my dean too.

I'm from India. We have compulsory clinical rotations every day 8 am to 1 pm. We had a schedule for entire year and it included Medicine, Surgery, OBGYN, PEds, Opthalmology, Otolayngology, etc. We calculated 'total Number of hours' in each speciality and then a group of students gathered and requested Dean to add credit hours to our transcripts. It was not easy. Be persistent with the request.
