Star Observership Obstacles for IMGs

I thought I should share what I saw:

- Many programs need under-graduates, not graduates.
- Many programs need previous USCE.
- Many programs need ECFMG certification.
- Many programs need pre-payment, what happens if you are not accepted?
- Many programs neither sponsor nor support visas.
- Many programs neither offer nor guide to nor help with housing.

Any comments, experiences or may be programs that are well known to you guys?

Most of the criteria you mentioned above are for getting "residency" not observerships.

Observerships requirements are usually much more flexible.

All you need to get an observership is connection. If you know US doctors then you are highly likely to easily get into observerships.

Also research this

If you don't have that option but you have the money then you can try "paid externship opportunities that we have them listed here

Ah and by the way, to do an externship, which steps on USMLE di you require?

P.S. Why is my thread marked as "unhappy" ?

Most externships do not require USMLE Steps but it would be better if you go to them with some steps in hand because this way they'll trust you more and they may even give you a chance of an interview if you are ready.

PS- your "unhappy" icon has been removed.
