Question IMGs with hepatitis C

Hello everyone!

As I searched throughout the forum I didn`t find any discussions on this.
But I think the problem is actual as Hep C is a world-spread desease, and doctors are not secure of it either.

So the question is: can a person with hep C become a physiсian in the US?
If yes, what specialties are allowed?

Thanks to everyone`s reply. Any external links, any information or personal experians is on value.

So, I found an interesting article.
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/health/2...h-hepatitis-c/
Now I`ve motivated my friend to study, and gave him a hope, as he thought it would never be possible to become an american doctor.

If have some information - share it in this thread.

If not perfoming any procedures, why not? Psycaitry, rehabitation, subspecialties of IM are possible, i think.

Default Hep C

Discriminating a doctor against Hepatitis C would be unethical. as long as you are in a speciality that wont put the patient at risk. Others please correct me if Im wrong.

I agree with the post above. As long as you are not putting your patients at risk and are not willingly keeping that information hidden from your patients, nobody can discriminate against you.

And in response to a previous post: No, I wouldn't mind if my doctor had Hep C. Would you stop practicing medicine if you were infected with Hep C?
