Warning! NO MORE IMG Residency match! don't believe what you want to hear.

i want to response to this thread..

No More IMGs in the Future; Is It True?

what you said makes no sense, it goes only on the way that all img want to hear, to motivate and keep trust.

1/you say that the img represents 25% of the workforce and it is not logical to touch this img physicians. yes it's true, I agree. but the problem we will face, is not the removing of img already in place. the problem is the fact that the coming of the new img will stop. (which will be offset by the arrival of lot of new amg)

2/then you go with Ď the economy gets betterí. (I didnít know you were an economist) so you speculated about the imminent creation of new resident places. it looks like speculations and false promises of politicians based on your economy knowledge. Moreover, if the number of residences increases ( best case) the number of amg will increase and also will exceed the number of residence in 2019.

3/superstar conrad fisher ( who works for kaplan preparation which business depends on the many img customers) said,'' we prefer a good img than an amg .. yeah sure. Do you imagine he will say oh I work for Kaplan, itís not necessary for the img to watch my videos again in order to have good scores at step 1í so..If he says it it, you got to believe it lol (ironic)! , itís like I would trust the guy who sell me something. If he says his product is the best, trust him!

And do you imagine a residency program director, who says he has no other choice but to take an img because of vacancy places, and he prefers to have an img for scatwork (better than nothing right?)? No way, he prefers to say ' i choose the img because he or she's good! but don't trust that. if an amg come, you go out. no more f.u king sh..it papers to do for visa sponsoring and less risk probabylities with a guy who makes american medical school.(remeber of obamacare about the notes the patient they give to the hospital)

4/some programes are neglected by amg .. let me laugh. it is only because the amg has the different choices. if the choice is no longer, you take what's left and you will be very happy. (like us)> give you a choice of caviar and a piece of bread for exemple. The amg will choose the caviar. But if you offer him bread or starve, he will rush on the poor piece of bread. it's the solution that the us governement found to increase physician in family medecine or primary care. and of course in desereted area!

. I do not want to discourage anyone, but I'm not the kind of person who believes what he want to hear. but I keep trust in the future. Best regards

I think there has been so many rumors for the past 20 years about IMGs NEVER getting a job in the USA, that this is the newest one.

For years the USA was saying "doctor shortage in 2015-2020. Now all of the sudden they will have too many USA doctors.

I think what is old is new again.

I think this is bullshit and the status quo will continue.

good luck for all.

The best way to predict the future is by looking at the past. This is how investors forecast the stock prices. So in our case, IMG matching has been a complete success year after year and even we got the highest numbers in 2013 match.

It does not make sense that there will be an abrupt absence of IMGs simply because there isn't an abrupt increase of AMGs, the increase in AMGs (if ever there is true increase) is gradual and therefore the "rumored" decline in IMGs should logically be gradual. Right now we are at the peak of the curve, until we start moving along the down curve (which did not happen so far), you cannot say there will be no IMGs in the future, you cannot even say there will be less IMGs in the future.

I am not economist of course, I just listen to the news! Have you seen the news lately? The US economy has bottomed out and the unemployment is going down.

The 25% of IMGs represent a balanced workforce that is needed by American Hospitals throughout the last 3-4 decades. If you change 25% of your environment you will run into troubles. California legislators have requested easier Visa regulations to get more Asians in Silicon Valley, I see no reason why hospitals wouldn't think the same.

AMGs will not go to "bad" programs even if it means they don't match. That's how illegal immigrants are thriving in this country! Americans won't do the farm work under the Arizona July sun!

Also, I am not swearing or promising anything. This forum is a place where we voice our opinions and everybody is entitled to his/her opinion, I might be right and I might be wrong and the same goes for you. My intention is not to mislead or to please the reader, I am just telling what I think is logical.

Thank you very much for your feedback and thread.

Sincerely,
Sabio
