Pakistan (PMDC) Pakistan Medical And Dental Council

Hey Everyone !
I want to Know Is House job is Necessary for doing Residency In USA? if Someone Completed His/Her Steps After a year of graduation from MBBS in PK and get matched in the subsequent year, Will PMDC give Him/her Certificate or He/she should have to do House job in PK?
If he/she has to do house job then it is not fair

No man, house job is just for Pakistan, they don't need it. U can directly go there after graduation.

If you require a compulsory 1 year house job aka internship before they grant you a degree, then no. You cannot just simply go for PG in the USA. You must finish the requirements thus GRADUATING from med school and then apply for PostGrad training.

Thanks Dr.Ali, but I've read pmdc doesnot give full registration without doing 1 year housejob in any approved hospital in pak, will they give me provisional registration certificate if i passed step 1,2ck,cs,3 and ecfmg certified? #confused i think i should call pmdc for this..

Look here

check rule no 19 .... i think it clearly states that an initial provisonal one year registration is granted ... and also housejob/residency from a foreign country is also accepted

so i don't think you need to do housejob if you have A US residency goal in your mind ...you can directly go there after the last year and you will get full registration after that ....

House surgeon and post mbbs internship is only for those respective countries

In US all you need is usmle 1, 2ck, 2cs and you can match into residency programs

I wonder who have told you internal medicine is less competitive ...though peads is a less competitive but internal medicine and neurology are among the competitive ones ....according to the 2011 NRMP you can see the difference

though a bit old though as there is not an updated version yet published but still authentic enough to analyse the competitiveness ....

Secodly ...according to the NRPM Program Director Surverys ....you can deduce that
  • Usmle Step 1 score is the real deal in every specialty
  • letters of recommendation
  • personal statement
  • Step 2 score
  • Visa status
  • Step 2 CS first attempt pass
more to that i have heard that even some of them don't even care about it ...because there are numerous IMG from all over the world with having different qualities of education ....so it would be impossible to devise a method to compare and assess the credibility of their previous medical school history ....

So do good in step 1 and 2 and CK and Pass in 1st attempt in Step 2 CS ...and acquire good LORs in your respected field and you are good to go

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.
