I'm studying for Step 1 right now. Don't have any LOR's or clinical experience in the US. What are the chances for me to get into a residency-program? Is there someone else out there in a similar situation???? What experiences did you have?
I'm studying on my own and have FA, Kaplan-videos and a lot of german medical textbooks. What else should I use for preparation?
I've heard about part-time residencies. Does anyone know anything more about that topic????
Hi there, I work for an organization that helps guide/place IMG/FMGs. To be honest, your chances of getting in are low without USCE or LORs. Program Directors are harsh as it is on FMGs, so without these essentials on your CV you're most likely going to get looked over. My advice is to aim for a 250+ for your Step 1 on first attempt. Apply to research in hospitals. Most time they'll give you an unpaid position at a community-based program. Program Directors prefer research at an ACGME Accredited university-based program. These usually pay $800-$1000 but again, are hard to attain. Hope this info helps, message me and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have!
