Help IMG with many questions

Hi everyone,
This forum is really helpful for IMG,
I would really appreciate anyone who could answer my questions (I have many !!)
I'll give u a brief look at my credentials:
I'm IMG graduated in July 2007, step 1 90/214, step 2 CK 92/216, CS pending result. I did research volunteer for 2 months, part time in 2 researches. one research was with a well known ophthalmologist who promised to give me LOR ,the other research was in immunology with a biology professor.
I'm in contact with one of my professors in my medical school, I'll ask him for LOR.
I planning to apply for IM/FM this year.
My questions are:
-will research be considered as USCE or at least equivalent to it?
-If I get 2 LOR from the professors & 1 LOR from my professor will that be enough?
-the LOR will be from ophthalmologist, biology professor & my medical school surgery professor, is that good for IM/FM residency?
-God forbids, I fail the CS, how bad is it for my application?
-I haven't worked since 2009, I've been preparing for USMLE (plus some personal stuff), will that hurt my application?
-Lastly, I want to know the rules for LOR, I'm not planning to waive the right to see them.should the LOR writers send them to me & then I'll send them to ERAS? what about the cover letter? are there any specific rules for LOR?
I'm a little bit confused about this subject !

I know that's too many questions !
I'll be very grateful for any feedback, especially from those who matched this year.

No. That's not very good for IM/FM but it's better than nothing.

You will lose the opportunity of matching in many programs that have passing the CS from the first time as a set criterion.

thank you step taker for the quick reply & useful links
I have another question, if you don't mind answering, what is exactly the "MSPE"? does it hurt if I apply without it? coz I don't think my medical school provides such document!
