Yup, whatever email that you put in your ERAS account is how they will communicate with you, although I'm not sure how many will be using the message center through ERAS which to me is not very well constructed.

I had a question. I mentioned in my PS that I want to do geriatric fellowship in future. Does that decrease my chances of IVs where there is no geriatrics fellowships?

Good luck,lorazepam.

By the way ,does anyone know what does it mean the change of color of the fonts in ADTS? I have 3 or 4 programs changed to purple grayish color while the others are black!

I noticed the same thing. Not sure if it signifies anything or maybe it's a glitch?

Default personal statement question

hey guys! good luck to all of us trying to match for psych this year! I just had a question...I'm applying later since I'm waiting on my Step 2 CK score. My personal statement touches upon a kind of touchy subject in regards to the unjust treatment of the mentally ill from my home country in some of the provincial regions. Do you think that that topic is a bit controversial for my PS? Any input would be appreciated thanks!

I think its a good idea, I will give you the main points you need to include:

1- brief introduction about you
2- what have you done so far?
3- what skills you obtained from those experiences?
4- what are your future goals? career wise.
5- how do your skills benefit the program your applying to.

avoid unnecessary quotations, generic cliches , don't talk about why you became a doctor cause your already one.
good luck

Thank you yazz! Have you received any IV calls? Any idea about the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center program? Is it a University program or a University affiliated community program?

I applied to 85 psychiatry programs that have a history of accepting IMG's and especially those who have accepted students specifically from my Medical School. I'm also applied to 20 Neurology programs and I am currently in the process of applying to at least 60 preliminary IM programs.

Do you thing I've applied too far beyond what I would reasonably be expected to get?

If you think you have applied to too many, I've lost it then. I applied to 130 psych.
Got my first rejection from University of Colorado.

Yeah, that residency doesn't fancy IMG's - so its not a huge loss. But hang in there. You have an IV, that's a good sign.

Dont get freaked out man, it's so early in the whole season. Very very few IMGS heard back from programs.

I get the feeling that some of us are blindly applying to every possible program. Please look into the program to see whether they accept IMG's before you apply. Most programs have a "Current Residents" section where you can see which medical schools all the residents are from.

Blindly applying does not improve your chances. Your throwing money away.

also if you meet their criteria, and their coordinator was encouraging enough to apply, and the fact that more than half of their their "apply" section page was dedicated to IMG, it would be a wide assumptions that IMGs applying here were doing it blindly.

Default Keep smiling and hope for the best! It's still early!

1st rejection from University of Utah. It was kind of expected since they have no IMG's, Harvard grads, and U of C grads in their PGY-1 class, but the 2 IMG's in PGY-2 gave me some hope!

has anyone here have any experience of doing observership at uni of Louisville, psychiatry dept.?
is it helpful? how long in advance do we need to submit application in order to get a slot ? i heard we need to make payment at the time we start our rotation? can we drop out in case we get matched?

I agree. Been to Moab more times than I would care to admit. Utah is actually a fun place if you like the outdoors.

I got a rejection from Colorado too. They had a requirement that we need to have a Colorado Medical Board's license to be considered for an interview.

I had tried very hard to get that observership position before 15 September. But they told me that they will only consider new applicants starting from January, 2015. There was also a possibility of closure of this observership program as their observership direction, Dr Lippmann, has retired. Finally, I gave up the thought of applying as I am hopeful to match anyway. But if you want to secure a spot there as a back up plan for next year's match, it will go a long way in getting you IV calls in next season.

I've been a long time lurker but first time poster. I've been meaning to join your thread.
I'll graduate this December and am applying to Family and skype.

So far, only psych 2 rejections...

Default Hello Everyone

Hi guys. I've been a lurker on these forums for some time now, never thought to introduce myself or post. Just applied for Psych residency throughout the country minus Cali.

Step 1 : 206 (1st attempt)
Step 2 : 241 (1st attempt)
Step 2CS : Pass (1st attempt)
USCE: Just some research assistant and shadowing type stuff probably 6 months worth.
Publications: Helped with 2 posters that were presented for IR.
YOG: 2012 (atleast that's what I wrote)

Gotten 3 rejections : Univ of Utah, Colorado, and SLU (last one was unofficial i emailed them and figured it out).

1 interview so far : Case Western univ. Metrohealth Cleveland, ohio.

Good luck everyone. This has got to be one of the most nerve wrecking things in the world.

It was just this Tues. 30th of Sept. Calmed my nerves a bit, but now I'm just anxious again haha.

Default when to take step 2ck

Hello I need some advice! So a program that I rotated at encouraged me to apply for the match this year, even if it's late. I have completed my step 1 and step 2 cs. I already sent in my complete application minus the step 2 ck. I'm really worried that i may not be able to pass/score highly so I am considering moving it back. Do you think since it's already late in the game that it will make a difference getting my step 2 ck results back first week of November as opposed to the last week of November? Thanks for any input!

Hey, if there is any doubt about you passing, push it back. You're already a late applicant at this point. Don't jeopardize your career by rushing usmle tests. Make sure to take the latest nbmes and uswa to see if you'll pass. A failure will close a lot of doors for. Ultimately, it's your call though. Wish you the best of luck.
