Didn't get any IVs yet , I am just keeping busy with my USCE, working hard and concentrating on learning as much as I can from my work . Keeping my hopes high, I think IVs will come eventually, they will right ?

Rejection....North east Ohio.

Unofficial rejection from wake forest as well. Apparently they usually don't take IMGs despite whats mentioned on their website. :/

Just a suggestion,

please write us a review of the programs you got to interview there for future documentation and it will help for ranking. I will start myself hopefully after I am done by my first interview which is tomorrow.

Thanks.

Hey Lorazepam. Good luck, hope you get the interview and many others. If you don't mind could you tell me what country or school you graduated from or about to graduate? It's fine if you don't want to share it but I was just curious for comparisons sake. Thanks.

YOG 2008/Step 1 209/ Step 2 CK Pending/ Step 2 CS Passed/ NOT ECFMG certified yet /(December Likely) /Citizen
2 primary care elective rotations in USA as a medical student.
MPH from USA
One peer reviewed research paper.
5 presentation ( except one, other are not related to psychiatry but clinical research)
Serving in US Army for 3 years (hands on clinical in hospital), shadowing in family medicine residency program, and a psychologist ( NOT a Psychiatrist)
All US LORs (one from Psychologist rest from primary care physicians)
Applied in 80 programs ( only in psychiatry)

I applied just to take a chance. I knew chances are less as CK results are not there.
how bad are my chances?

For a typical IMG it would be very tough without having: a CK score, LOR from a psychiatrist, clinical psychiatry experience. But you have some unique experiences with the Army, MPH, psychology experience, and research. So I hope that works in your favor, but if not try to get some psychiatry clinical experience and good LORs. And study hard for CK! Good luck

when are you going to interview? 4th interview so far! I feel so blessed to have gotten interviews, since I keep pushing my Step 2 CK back. I'm not ready..but I know I should take it since I will probably get MORE interviews with an actual score. Gah...I guess pushing it back is better than failing it right??

Default NY programs

Gah is it weird that I mostly applied to NY programs but have yet to hear from any except one I did a rotation with? I guess it's ok, but I still don't understand the NY 12 week rule that limits you from doing residency there, and I've heard that they can be more malignant. Anyone have any thoughts?

okay so, im slowly freaking out!

step 1- 199
step 2-209
cs- 2nd attempt
3 publications
psych research position secured for the month of november

applied broadly to almost every single psych program across the US. Have not heard anything back, 15 rejections all from university programs, as to be expected. slowly losing hope but trying to be optimistic. Called programs about 2 weeks ago, roughly 4 programs took down my aamc number, not sure if thats a good sign?

My Interview:

it started with a usual introduction about the program and its objectives, then they assigned us to 4 vis a vis interviews and a fifth panel interview,
generally it was low key laid back stress free, simple tell me about your self, where do you see yourself in the future and etc no big question, we had tour and lunch.
the panel interview involved 3 candidates including me with a simple introduce yourself and then gave us a scenario and asked about our opinion. thats about it .

Default About step 3/ H1

I have a question. If a program only sponsors H1, and one applies there, but hasnt taken step 3 yet. IS there any chance the program would consider application considering that step 3 result would come in April? Obviously i mean if you first get a call from that program. Once you have IV, than any chance the program might consider you for H1, on the condition that you would pass step 3 in April

I think it would depend on the program. You would have to run this by the program director/ coordinator or whoever is the appropriate person to run this by.

Hi everyone!

I am hoping to apply for Psych residency next year (match 2016). I had a few questions and was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction as you are already going through the process.

1) When is the latest by when you should have completed your observerships / externships and received your LoRs?

2) Say if you finish an observership after you submitted your application, can you update the months of USCE and upload the LoR later?

Thanks in advance and best of luck to you guys!

Default IV

so far this is my schedule.
I interviewed at
LSU-OLOL in sept ( really like the program, the PD was very nice and welcoming. The residents really like the program too. Only thing is that its a new program. They asked me really straight forward questions. Overall a good experience)
Creedmore Psychiatry (NY)- this is an interesting IV. It reminded me of working in Forensic psych. We all got UV stamps on our wrists and picture ID's . The IV wasnt bad. They asked me about my interests in Psych. They didnt tell us who was going to IV us before hand and we also had a write a small report about a patient encounter. The good thing about this program was that u spend most of 3rd and 4th year at Columbia and can start moon lighting end of 3rd year.

Next IV's are
12/3 - University of tenesse
12/12 - Marshall Univ (WV)
12/15 - Uni of Kansas Wichita

sorry it ended up being super long. This forum has been super helpful and I hope this helps someone

For 1 and 2:
You need to have everything complete ideally on the day you submit your ERAS application. Once you submit your ERAS application you cannot make any changes to it.

However, you can always add new LORs to your ERAS application even after you submit your application.

Any updates (additional observership/externship) you can always email the programs, but not through ERAS

Ya this thread has really slowed down. I got zero psych interviews, i applied to 60-70 programs, zeltch so far. Is it too late?

U think if i get a greencard + ECFMG certification + pass step 3 for next match I'll get more than zero interviews?

I think that should definitely help if you don't match this year. But no, it's not over yet. I got my 4th IV today and I believe I got it due to a cancelled IV spot - there will be many of those cancelled spots from now through January!

My stats are 214/233/CS pass/211/3mo USCE/Green card/YOG 2011...so overall pretty average and somewhat similar to yours (except I'm an older grad with less USCE).

EDIT: I just saw that you said you still need ECFMG certification, quite a few programs require that so once you'll meet the requirement for more programs
