Arrow All about residency interviews!

hey all!

I know this sounds silly but I really have no clue about the interviews. some very basic questions..plz plz help me with it!

1. Interview season - Nov to Jan is it?

2. When do interview calls start coming in? do they call or email or something else?

3. Can we choose our interview dates? does a program offer us dates to choose from or something else? like will I be able to manage to group together interviews in a particular city lets say new york, in a week or 10 days time?? really confused about this.

4. Do programs provide accommodation or do we mange it on our own?-most likely we arrange it our self is it?

5. Is it too ambitious for a person to think they can manage the interviews on their own. I mean traveling to different cities and staying there.arranging accommodation on my own??

I know these must be the most basic things but i know none. maybe it'll help others too

Usually September and October but it can be as late as December.
Usually they send you an email either via ERAS or directly to your email. They rarely call unless there is a very specific urgent issue.

Yes. they usually give you options of interview dates and you choose from them. So you can manage to group interviews together. Occasionally, grouping may not work perfectly specially if you have too many interviews (like more than 15) or if the program sends you a specific date to attend (for example you were on the waiting list and someone else canceled and they want you on a specific date).

Most community programs do not provide accommodation. Most University programs provide accommodation.
Most residency programs (community and university) do not cover for your travel expenses.
So yes. you have to manage and plan the issue yourself. Finding rooms for rent if needed, scheduling your flights, renting a car, ...etc
