Default Advice regarding application without ECFMG Certification

Dear all,

I sincerely need an advice. My question is related to applying to Psychiatry residency this year vs next year. I am an IMG who passed the Step 1 with a score of 229 and step 2 CK 242; but I failed my step 2 CS in the ICE (Integrated Clinical Encounter) part. I wonder how much it can impact my application. I am planning to retake the CS by October of this year, so I will get the results in December.

My credentials are: MSc in epidemiology. Graduation year: 2012. In the case that I apply by next year, Are there significant differences between applying this year vs next year?. Are there significant differences between a 2 years of graduation and 3 years of graduation?.

I do not if I can apply this year with pending results of the step 2 cs retaken.

Please, I need an advice.

Thank you,

Thank you,
this is the issue with psychiatry they are less influenced by scores yet when it comes to IMG they care, they are less interested by attempts but when it comes to an IMG they do, and that explains why out of the 1320 positions offered last year only 190 IMGs got accepted, for this year only 160 programs are participating in the match less than last year which was around 180 if I am accurate so the chances are getting harder and harder, not to sound pessimistic but there is always hope and here comes the trick psychiatry honors USCE very much why? most whom apply to psychiatry actually apply for other fields and psych being a backup just for the sake of moving to the states or getting a h1b visa, less IMG's are purely devoted to do psych. it would be totally apparent on the application especially when it lacks psych experience or psych research or psych USCE.

secondly, they totally look for participants whom completed step 3 so my advice to u finish CS and plan on doing step 3
