I'd say Step 1 + CS is better
Because US docs are usually concerned about the language and communication skills of IMGs more than their knowledge.

But Step 1 + CK + CS is the ultimate combination, by the way.

If you have attractive step 1 result it is enough, just make sure you get the remainder results by the end of January to be ranked.

Although it is mainly for AMGs but many IMGs especially who have high score or GC or impressive CV (research, USCE, previous residency..) do get interviews.

I disagree Disagree with applicant guide

Disagree with applicantguide,

IMGs with Step 1 score alone have very small chances in getting interviews, there should be at least CS pass with it.

i agree with applicantguide USA is a big country and there are many programs and many chances

there are very strong program other intermediate

so for sure if u apply with full application its the best but also u have a chance if apply early without ECFMG certificate

but before match u should be complete everything .

anyone
can give us a recommended list
of programs not require ECFMG certificate when you apply but require it upon january2012 or even to be complete by time of interview

@ applicant guide,

U must have good experience since u have been training students for the past 5years. Do u have any IMG success stories without a complete profile by sep 1? And what percent of the students those approached u matched without a complete application?
