Default Whats a good number to apply for IM residency, for an IMG?

I know the answer is the more you apply, the better your chances. I am well aware that you increase your chances. Its simple maths - probability, plug in some numbers, you will increase the likelihood of getting that one desired outcome.

But, lets face it, you have to weigh in the finance issue, and the specific requirements for the programs.

Therefore, what do you think is the bare minimum number that at least guarantees you will have 10-15 interviews. I am referring to IM specifically.

IF you are applying to 175 programs, here is the rundown:

95$ ->175-10 -> 165 = 95$ [For first 10 programs, its 95$ overall]
10*10$ -> 165-10 -> 155 = 100$ [The next 10 programs, its 10$ per prog]
10*16 - > 155-10 -> 145 = 160$ [For the next 10 programs, its 16$ per prog]
145*26= 3770$ [After the first 30 programs, its 26$ per program]
USMLE Transcript [Only once] = 75$

Total =[95+100+160+3770+75]=> 4200$

Yeah....I know.....

It comes down to scores and YOG.

@Smashingdude- your scores are great! I don't think you'll have any problem getting 8-12 interviews if you apply to the right programs- a mixture of community and university.

Thank you for the generous comments Warfarin. My problem is that I cannot get a J1 visa, and this excludes me from many, including top university programs. I am limited to those few 100+ programs that sponsor H1B.
