Default Internal Medicine vs Pediatrics

Hi all.
I am an IMG. YOG march 2014.
I am equally interested in IM and peds.
Step 1 237(1)
Applying for 2016 match.
While I am looking for observerships and research opportunities,
I need to be sure the speciality I am applying in.

2 questions:

A. With my score, is peds safer than IM?

B. Is there any difference in approach between IM and peds while making your CV? As in, if one needs more Usce or research experience than the other?

Any help, will be truly appreciated.
Thanks

Step 1 score, though important, isn't the only factor to decide if you'd be an ideal candidate for IM or Peds. Same goes for USCE/research, it should be tailored depending on your interest. If you are interested in both the specialities, you should try to get usce/research in both fields. There is no specific rule that IM needs more clinical experience than Peds or vice versa. The duration of usce required for application varies with each program.

Hey i have a doubt about the peds residency. I heard that the IMGs who get a peds residency often face alot of law suit issues. And often have to work way more harder than their IMG friends.. Is this true??

who told you that?which is the reason they get law suits?all pediatricians all around the world are overprotective and especially because there are the parents they care more about their children...please, don't spread rumors in here...

Everyone is trying to do the best...my response might have been aggressive and sorry for that...but i am tired of people finding problems wherever there are not...i am sure someone has told you that and this information made you really anxious and you thought of sharing it here...
but people come up with any ideas you can imagine...this procedure is really tough...don't listen to what anybody says...someone new in this procedure hears all these things and make him more nervous...
the time you get into residency, you are equal to aall the other residents...
just a friendly advice
